The Panevėžys Civic Art Gallery is the largest center of the visual arts in the Aukštaitija Region was established in 1990. The Gallery’s activities include organizing exhibitions, education, accumulating an art collection, publishing art publications as well as organizing cultural events. The Gallery comprises three units: Art Gallery, Ceramic Art Pavilion and Photography Gallery. The Gallery regularly hosts solo, group and conceptual exhibitions of different genres, including the representation of local, regional, national and international artists.
The Ceramic Art Pavilion houses the Collection of stoneware ceramics generated during the Panevėžys International Ceramic Symposiums. The Gallery is organizing Ceramic Symposiums since 1990. The Contemporary Ceramic Collection – the unique one in the Eastern Europe – constitutes more than 600 pieces of art and compositions, which were created by 170 artists from 37 countries. The Gallery became a member of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC) in 2017.
